Tips- Get The Most From Your EDI Power Reader Demo Experience

Open an EDI File

Simply use the “Open” menu choice and select any file within your computer/network, just like opening a document or spreadsheet regardless of the naming convention or file extension. To open more than one file, use [ctrl] [click] or [shift] [click].

Different Views Based on Format

With the 835 format, for example, you can view the data summarized at the claim level, or view each service line separately. Select the tab you wish to view, and toggle between them.

Select the Data to View in the Grid

Use your mouse to [right-click] any column heading and you will get a list of fields to select/deselect. Just check/uncheck the desired fields and hit “OK”.

Change Column Headings

From the same column list, you can also change the name of any column heading. You can use that to match the same vernacular you use in the office, or within your PM system. The changed names are highlighted in red and can be changed back to the defaults at any time.

Display the EDI Mappings

Want to see where the EDI Power Reader pulls the data from the X12 Standard? Simply select the “Show EDI Info” box and see loop, segment, and element.

Sorting and Column Formats

You can sort a column by clicking that column heading using your mouse’s [left-click]. Click again to toggle between ascending and descending order.

Filter Records (ex: PAID, UNPAID, or NEGATIVE PAID claims in the 835 format)

Simply select the desired options (different formats offer different filter options).

Ways to Find Records: Simple Search

Type anything into the search box, and it will perform a text-string search of all the data in your grid, and will return partial matches in any column.

Ways to Find Records: Advanced Search

You can use “AND-OR” logic to create mini-queries of the data in the grid.

Export Data

You can export to XLSX, XLS, CSV, and Tab-Delimited formats. You can also export the entire data set, or limit the export to what is filtered in your grid by choosing “Grid Rows Only” and/or “Grid Columns Only”.

Small developers are plagued by ever-changing algorithms of A/V programs and we occasionally trigger a false positive. You can reach out to us and we can verify that the program is not malware.

If you received the error “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” – or similar message, this is due to the .net version on the computer. You could acquire .net 3.5 and reinstall, or you can revert to an export style that doesn’t use these components. This is accomplished by:

• In the reader select Help > Support > LegacyExport > On
• Then Close and re-open reader
• Try the export again
